Some questions you may have

When do I need to order my cake?

As soon as you can, as ordering your cake reserves your booking and your date, although you can provisionally book the date. I usually like 12 - 16 weeks for wedding cakes and 2 weeks for Celebration cakes (but more would be great). I can do cakes at short notice, even wedding cakes so it's always worth giving me a ring to see if I can help. Summer does book up quickly though.

How do I arrange a consultation?

Ring or e-mail, contact numbers are on the contact us part of this site, we will then get back to you to arrange a time and date at a convenient location.

Can I mix different flavours in my cake?

Yes you can, this can be discussed at a consultation, as some cakes are more suitable than others due to firmness. But it should be no problem to have different flavour tiers or even different flavoured layers.

Will I have to pay a deposit?

Yes a deposit is required to confirm the order of your cake  or to book the date. A deposit of 1/3 of the price of your cake is required. The full amount is to be paid before the delivery date or on delivery.

My Grandma wants to make my cake to a family recipe, can you still decorate it?

Yes we can, as long as the cake it suitable for the purpose we can decorate it to your requirements.

How much does one of your cakes cost?

It is very hard to estimate the cost of a cake, so the tables that follow are only a very rough guide.

Size of Cake Estimated Price
 Individual Gift Cake £3.50 - £5.50
 Small Party Cake (children's party size) £30 - £50
 Medium Party Cake £40 - £70
 Large Party Cake £60 - £100

Wedding Cakes

Number of Tiers Estimated Price
 Single Tier £80 - £120
 Two Tiers £130 - £240
 Three Tiers £290 - £420
 Four Tiers £420 - £590
 Five Tiers £620 - £1000

These are only estimated prices so please ring up for a consultation.

How do I know if I'll have enough cake?

Again this can be discussed at the consultation stage. A kitchen cake can also be used if more portions are needed.

The table that follows is a rough guide to help

Size of Cake Number of finger portionsDessert portions
 6" round or 5" 20 10
 7" round or 6" 35 15
 8" round or 7" 50 20
 9" round or 8" 65 30
 10" round or 9" 80 40
 11" round or 10" 100 50
 12" round or 11" 120 60

For an aesthetically pleasing 3 tier wedding cake 10", 8", 6" 0r 11", 8", 5" is usually suitable, though 12", 9", 6" gives more portions.

I am only having a small wedding but would still like an impressive cake, can I have one?

Yes even though your wedding is small your cake can still be impressive have you ever heard the phrase small but beautiful. There are many options to make your cake just as impressive, you could have a larger top cake then individual cakes arranged on tiers around it's base can look impressive. A dummy cake can be decorated and used to give an extra tier or separators and pillars can be used to add height. This can be discussed further at a consultation.

I would love to have a bouquet of sugar flowers that matches my actual bouquet could you do this?

Yes I can make a bouquet like your actual one but would need to know exactly how it will look and what flowers will be used.
